Alnwick and Northumberland

The district of Alnwick and Northumberland at large is a beautiful region full of many exciting things to do and see, no matter what the time of year.

Alnwick CastleA gentle stroll from Thorncroft takes you into Alnwick town centre where, as well as browsing round the many shops, cafes and restaurants, you can visit the much talked about Alnwick Gardens, with its unique tree house and restaurant and of course Alnwick Castle, featured in the Harry Potter and Elizabeth films. You can also visit Hardy & Greys, home to the worlds most prestigious fishing tackle companies and one of the largest second hand book shops in Europe, Barter Books.

Within Northumberland there are many scenic walks and drives you can take and some unspoilt beaches for that altogether get away from it all.

Northumberland is famous for its castles. Located close to Alnwick are Warkworth Castle, Dunstanbugh Castle, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and of course the castle on Holy Island (Lindisfarne) accessible only at low tide.
